The history of Northamptonshire County Council started with the formation of the body in 1889. It was instituted under the Local Government Act 1888 which was a parliamentary law of establishing county borough and county councils in England and Wales.

The fundamental purpose of such flourishing council institute was to create legislative elaboration amongst the metropolitan and non-metropolitan county. Further, it has also helped in establishing a fair governmental body with fair 57 electoral divisions with 57 councillors.
